WHAT IS WINDOW TINTING AND HOW IS IT BENEFICIAL?
Window tinting is a process where a protective film is applied to the glass surfaces of vehicles, residential properties, or commercial buildings. The film is typically made from materials such as, ceramic and metal, it comes in various shades and thicknesses to suit different needs and preferences. The primary purpose of window tinting is to reduce the amount of sunlight and heat that enters through the windows, improving comfort, privacy, and energy efficiency.

How is window tint applied? After removing the liner (think of it like a giant sticker) on the film, the "sticky" side is sprayed up using specific chemicals that targets and activates the adhesive. The film is then applied on the inside of the glass for both auto and residential, although some circumstances may require an external installation for residential tinting.

What is the darkest legal film for my car?In Tasmania, the VLT (Visible Light Transmission) laws only allow a maximum of 35% film on the two front windows and a 20% on the rear section of the vehicle. Vehicles that are primarily designed to carry goods can go as low 0% on the rear section provided they have at least one rear vision mirror. A measuring adjustment of 5% is applied to cater for any light meters that may be inaccurate.

Why does the film look bubbly or hazy? After installation of the film, it will go through a period called the "curing stage" or the "drying stage". During this stage little micro blisters may start to form or the film may become hazy and cloudy. This is a visual indicator that the adhesive is working and bonding with the glass. Although at first this may seem quite concerning, this is completely normal and may require a few days to dry/cure.

How much will it cost?Price may vary due to many different factors. For automotive tinting these include: - Choosing between a ceramic or metalized film. - If old film will need to be removed first. - The complexity of the vehicle. A common misconception is that because the car is smaller it is cheaper, this is not always the case. For residential/commercial we use a m² approach. An installer will come and visit your home/office to measure up all the windows and convert them into a m² total. We charge a minimum fee of $275 for single window jobs, glass must not exceed 1830mm x 2000mm.

How long will it take? For automotive tinting, generally speaking; 2 -3 hours for total completion. This may vary depending on the number of windows. For residential/office, again depending on the number of windows, we generally ask for a full working day for total completion. Larger homes may require 2 working days.

Do you offer mobile service?Yes, we do offer mobile window tinting services. We will require a clean, dust-free environment to ensure the highest quality results. For optimal conditions, we recommend a garage or indoor space where we can work without external contaminants affecting the installation.
